"Dogs from land and sea"

Inspired by a monstrous world on first glance, but soon the beasts become friendly, this piece explores mystic creatures at play supporting a world above them. The forms both mimic those seen in our world, and another more unfamiliar. Hand carved from Brazilian granite the sculptures are my second piece of work in this style and technique of stonework. I learned a lot from this experience, in particular how precision matters when creating dry joints. The stone on top is delicate and unique in it’s pattern, ensuring each of these pieces will always be unique, along with the inevitable distinctive forms created when working with hand carving.
